Fleming St is the second installment of my collection, Tropics, inspired by my trips to the Florida Keys.
When my family and I went to Key West, we stayed at the Eden House. During our few days there, we spent a lot of time just walking around. We visited a lot of art studios and galleries on our walks—my favorite being Maggie Ruley Island Inspirations. Walking into Maggie Ruley’s studio was like being smacked in the face with life. In fact, the emotions invoked by that experience have served as a large inspiration for my own ventures as an artist. This piece is inspired by our quiet walks around Key West, and it is named Fleming St after the street that houses both the Eden House and Maggie Ruley’s gallery and studio.
